Commuter Life & The Collegium

At ź컢ͼ, over 55% of our student body is made up of commuter students. We understand that commuter students may face unique challenges on a daily basis that an on-campus resident may not. That’s the inspiration behind the Commuter Life Program!

The Commuter Life team is dedicated to providing commuter students with resources to make them feel right at home while on campus. One way we do this is by providing a space that is 100% dedicated to commuters – The Collegium. This space is designed to feel like a home away from home, complete with a full-sized fridge, microwave, lockers, TV, and a separate quiet study space. It’s the perfect retreat for before, between and after classes.

The Collegium is located in the Brown Student Center, right above the Chick-Fil-A. The space is open and free for any commuters to use Monday – Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Commuter Life Events

ź컢ͼ Commuter Life hosts various events to incorporate our Commuters into a home-away-from-home environment and bring all students together as one Husky family. Most popular events:

Free Lunch Tuesday

Every Tuesday, Commuter Life partners with Kaleo Discipleship and the Baptist Student Ministry to provide lunch for commuter students!

This occurs from 11AM-1PM (or until we run out of food) in the Collegium every Tuesday.

Waffle Wednesdays

Join us for Waffle Wednesdays every second Wednesday of the month from 12-2 p.m. (or until supplies last) in the Collegium. Enjoy free, delicious waffles and a chance to relax and socialize with fellow commuter students. Don’t miss out on this sweet mid-week treat!

Bi-Weekly Bible Studies

Every other week, Commuter Life hosts a community Bible study in the Collegium led by our very own Commuter Assistants!

Commuter Assistants

At the Collegium, you will find a team of upperclassmen commuter students dedicated to serving as a resource for commuter students… these student leaders are called Commuter Assistants!

But, what is the job of a commuter assistant?

  • To provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the Collegium
  • Plan events for the entire commuter student population
  • Serve as a resource to answer questions relating to the student experience and student involvement at ź컢ͼ
  • Connect students with resources on campus
  • Host and plan bible studies for the commuter population
  • Plan events for the commuter population in and outside of the Collegium
